A New Start-Take 2

Some of you may not know I was an educator in the public school system. Over the past year, I ended my journey with the K-12 education system to start my own consulting business – Marilyn Maychak Consulting. It has been an adventurous, steep learning curve embarking on this solo entrepreneur journey. ‘Moving towards Reconciliation through Relationship’ – this is how I envision the work I am doing . What does that mean? What does it look like? What does it feel like?

‘Moving towards Reconciliation through Relationship’ – this is how I envision the work I am doing . What does that mean? What does it look like? What does it feel like?

My vision is to influence systemic change and transformation where together we create brave spaces, systems and structures that tell deep and vibrant stories of intercultural understanding where Inuit, Indigenous People and People of the Global Majority

  • see themselves reflected in spaces and places
  • participate and influence systemic change and transformation
  • know that their voice, their story, their being is welcomed, matters, respected and can make this world more just and equitable

When we understand what it is we are reconciling, I believe we can embrace reconciliation through relationship by:

  • seeing each other as human beings, and
  • coming to know each through our stories by honouring our differences and championing our similarities.

I believe it is in the spaces in between – each other, our words, our actions and experiences – that we get to know each other.

It is through this relationship – the spaces in between – that we:

  • build a better understanding of: who we are, where we come from, where we want to go and the intersections of our multiple identities
  • transform spaces and places that move towards racial equity, justice and belonging
  • build mutual respect and empathy for each other
  • are seen, heard, and valued
  • co-create, write, dream, manifest what is possible for a more just, equitable and inclusive world

Walk with me as we get to know each other better.
